PRESTADEV / PRESTASHOP SERVICES

PrestaShop performance optimisation involves identifying and reducing the causes of a slow store. At PrestaDev, we analyse both page loading for customers and the operation of modules, the database and the server environment.

Show us what is slowing your store down

When your store keeps people waiting

Do products take a long time to open, does search respond slowly, or does the back office slow down when processing orders? The first step is to establish what is slow and under which conditions. A homepage test result does not describe the whole store, particularly the cart, search or back-office workflows.

What does the service include?

Measure selected processes

Check agreed pages and actions, taking the device, cache and server response time into account.

Elements loaded by the browser

Analyse images, stylesheets, scripts and external add-ons that may delay the page's display or response.

Modules and database

Review resource-intensive operations, queries and the way the cache — temporarily stored data — is used.

Server and configuration

Assess PHP settings, database settings and environment resources. The changes available on shared hosting may depend on the provider.

What needs to be agreed separately?

Optimisation does not guarantee a particular PageSpeed score or an increase in sales or search rankings. Results depend on factors including the theme, integrations, traffic and hosting. A server move, theme rebuild and paid tools are separate items if the analysis shows they are needed.

How does the work proceed?

  1. Establish a baseline

We select representative pages and record the measurement conditions so that the same scenario can be compared later.

  2. Identify causes and priorities

We distinguish browser issues from delays in the application or server. We agree on the order of changes.

  3. Implement improvements

We carry out the agreed work while checking its effect on store features.

  4. Compare and draw conclusions

We repeat measurements under comparable conditions. We describe the result achieved and any limitations that require further decisions.

What should you prepare for our discussion?

  • Page URLs or a description of actions that are slow.
  • Whether the issue affects phones, computers, the back office or all of these.
  • Any PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix reports, including the measurement date.
  • The hosting type and whether slowdowns occur at particular times.

Do not send passwords or customer data at the initial stage. We will agree separately on how to provide any necessary access.

What does the quote depend on?

The cost depends on the area being analysed and the causes of the slowdown, not just the number of products. A resource-heavy product page requires a different scope from a slow database or an overloaded server. It is useful to quote the work in stages: diagnosis, agreed improvements and verification afterwards.

How do we verify the completed work?

We tailor acceptance criteria to the agreed scope. For this service, the main checks are:

  • A comparison of selected measurements before and after the changes is available, with the measurement conditions described.
  • Core store actions still work after optimisation is enabled.
  • The result is described together with its limitations, without replacing purchase tests with a single numerical score.

Support after completion, subsequent changes and updates are covered by the terms agreed in the offer for each project.

Questions before getting started

Is enabling the cache enough?

Caching can help, but it does not address every cause of a slowdown. It also requires data to be refreshed correctly. A public product page needs different treatment from the cart or a customer account.

Will I get 100 points in PageSpeed?

We do not promise that score regardless of configuration. What matters is the store's actual speed and correct operation. Test results can change with measurement conditions and external services.

Do I need a more powerful server?

Not necessarily. A delay may be caused by a module, a database query, images or an external service. It is worth considering a hosting change only after establishing whether the current environment is actually limiting the store.
