Description

Features of the variant list on the product page

  • Table or variant cards. Two presentation layouts for the same product combinations, with the list adapted to phone screens.
  • Attribute comparison. Each item shows the names of groups and attribute values assigned to the combination, for example size and color.
  • Variant search. The customer searches by attribute value names and by reference or EAN, if the store owner has enabled the display of a given code.
  • Attribute filters. Dropdown lists allow narrowing results by product attribute values. With more than 200 different attribute values, the module skips dropdown filters and leaves search available.
  • Pagination for a long list. You can set from 5 to 100 variants per page; 20 are displayed by default. The customer sees the number of matching variants and navigation between pages.
  • Combination images. If a variant has an assigned image, the list uses it. If the combination has no image, it can display the product cover image.
  • Reference and EAN. Each of these codes can be shown or hidden independently to adjust the amount of information to the store’s ordering method.
  • Prices consistent with PrestaShop. The module uses the store’s calculations taking into account the customer, customer group, currency, and tax calculation method. The list shows the unit price for the minimum purchase quantity; the final value and quantity discounts are calculated by the cart.
  • Availability information. The list distinguishes variants in stock, available for order despite being out of stock, and unavailable variants. When stock management is disabled, it shows general availability.
  • Optional exact stock quantities. By default, the number of units is hidden, and the customer still sees the availability status. The owner can enable quantity display for variants in stock.
  • Links to variants. The name and image lead to the product page with the selected combination, allowing the customer to switch to the standard purchase form.

Ordering multiple variants in one action

  • Separate quantities for variants. The customer enters the number of units for selected combinations and adds them with one shared button to the native PrestaShop cart.
  • Up to 50 variants of one product. One action covers a maximum of 50 different combinations of the same product. Each of them can have a different ordered quantity.
  • Selection preserved between filters and pages. Entered quantities remain selected while using the list on the open product page, even when some items disappear after applying a filter.
  • Selection summary. The list shows the number of selected variants and the total number of units. The clear button removes the entire selection, including items outside the current page.
  • Minimum purchase quantity taken into account. Quantity control takes into account units of a given variant already in the cart. After reaching the minimum, the customer can add a smaller additional quantity if the remaining purchase rules allow it.
  • Available stock control. With stock management enabled, the module takes into account quantities in the cart and the option to order out-of-stock products set in PrestaShop.
  • Quantity limit in one action. The owner sets from 1 to 100,000 units added for a single variant; the default limit is 1000. This is not a limit on the total quantity of that variant in the cart.
  • Retry after connection interruption. The module recognizes a retry of the same request in the same session and for 48 hours protects against adding its confirmed items again. In case of an uncertain result, it indicates the need to check the cart.
  • Messages for individual variants. If adding ends partially, the customer receives information about the result and errors for rejected items. From the list, they can go directly to the cart.

Settings for the store owner

  • Choosing the location on the product page. Available positions are the product tab, its footer, the area below the purchase button, or a custom place in the template. The position of standard sections depends on the hooks called by the theme.
  • Restriction to selected categories. In the panel, you can enter category IDs separated by commas. The list appears for products assigned to at least one of them; an empty field means no category restriction.
  • Show only variants in stock. This option hides combinations with zero or negative stock, even when the store allows ordering them without stock.
  • In-stock variants first. An independent setting allows combinations with positive stock to be placed before the others.
  • Title in store languages. The owner can enter a custom list title for individual languages and enable or disable its header. An empty title field uses the module’s default translation.
  • Comparison list without bulk ordering. You can disable shared purchasing and keep the presentation of variants and links to their pages.
  • Three configuration tabs. The PD panel organizes options into the Display, Ordering, and Instructions tabs, with a description of how it works and how to embed the list in a custom location.
  • Settings separately for each store. In a multistore installation, the configuration is saved in the context of a single store. The list uses its combinations and native stock rules, including the shared warehouse of the store group.

Practical benefits for the customer and the store

  • Shared purchase of several sizes or colors. The customer prepares a selection within one product and adds it to the cart with one button.
  • Easier finding of the right combination. Search and filters narrow a long list, and preserving the selection allows searching for more variants without re-entering previous quantities.
  • Data tailored to the type of sales. The store can highlight images and colors or focus on references, EANs, and quantities for wholesale orders.
  • Purchase consistent with store rules. The customer uses prices, minimums, and availability set in PrestaShop, and the owner decides on the scope of the list and additional add-to-cart limits.

Example uses

In a clothing store, the customer can select several sizes and colors of the same model and enter the quantity for each combination. In the sale of parts or accessories, the list organizes variants distinguished by attributes and references. For wholesale orders, it allows entering different quantities for several combinations of one product, taking into account prices and minimums configured in the store.

How does the customer use the variant list?

  1. They open a product with combinations and browse the table or variant cards.
  2. Optionally, they narrow the list using search and filters and move between pages.
  3. They enter quantities for selected variants, using the summary of the number of items and units.
  4. They add the selection with one shared button, read the result, and check the contents of the native PrestaShop cart.

Important operating rules

  • The module presents combinations already created in PrestaShop. It does not generate new variants or create a feature table for products without combinations.
  • Bulk purchase applies to variants of one product. The list is not used to select multiple separate products from a category.
  • Products with required personalization fields use the native product form. Bulk ordering remains disabled for them even after saving the personalization.
  • Catalog mode, hidden prices, or disabled product ordering block bulk purchase. Available variant information can still be used for comparison.
  • Filtering, page switching, and bulk ordering require JavaScript. The list also contains links to variants and instructions for purchasing through the standard product form.
  • Before adding, the module checks all selected variants. Rejection at this stage does not add any item; an error during cart update may result in a partial outcome, about which the customer is informed.

Compatibility and implementation

Supported PrestaShop versions: 1.7, 8, and 9. The availability of the selected list position depends on the product page template. For a custom embedding location, the module provides the displayCustomAttributesListTable hook and instructions for its use in the panel. The required PHP version should be matched to the PrestaShop version in use.

FAQ

Find answers to the most common questions about this product.

PD Product Variant List is a module that presents existing product combinations in a table or cards on its page. The customer compares attributes, prices, and availability, and when bulk ordering is enabled, enters quantities for several variants and adds them to the cart together.

The list is useful for products ordered in several sizes, colours or other attribute combinations. It can be used by clothing stores, parts and accessories sellers, and wholesale sales, if the offered items are variants of the same product in PrestaShop.

No. The module displays combinations and attributes already configured in PrestaShop. Creating variants, assigning their attributes, setting prices, stock levels, and minimum purchase quantities is done in the store catalog.

The list works on a single product page and includes its combinations. It is not a form for ordering multiple separate products from a category. Variants of another product can be added to the same native cart after opening its page.

After enabling bulk ordering, the customer enters a separate quantity for the selected combinations and then uses the shared add button. The module checks the selected quantities and adds the permitted items to the native PrestaShop cart, displaying the result of the operation.

A single promotion covers a maximum of 50 different variants of the same product. For each variant, the customer can enter a different quantity, while respecting the minimum purchase quantity, availability, and the quantity limit set in the module.

Yes. In the Display tab, the owner selects either a table or a card layout. Both layouts present the same combinations and use the same rules for search, availability, and ordering.

The list shows attribute groups and values as well as the availability of combinations. Depending on the module and store settings, it may also include a photo, reference, EAN, unit price, the exact stock level for the in-stock variant, and information about the minimum purchase quantity.

The module uses the image assigned to the combination. If the combination does not have its own image, it can use the product's cover image. The images must be added in PrestaShop beforehand; their display in the list can be disabled in the module configuration.

The search covers the names of attribute values, for example size or color. It also covers the combination reference and EAN, if the display of the given code is enabled in the module. A hidden reference or EAN is not used for searching; the search and filters function can be disabled.

Filters are created from groups and attribute values present in the combinations of a given product. The customer selects a value in the appropriate group and narrows the list down, for example, to size and colour. The filters and search option is enabled in the Display tab.

If the product combinations use more than 200 different attribute values in total, the module skips the drop-down filters. It leaves the search covering all variants and informs about this way of browsing the list. This applies to the number of attribute values, not the number of product combinations.

Yes. The selection remains preserved while filtering and navigating between pages of the list on the open product page. It also includes variants that are temporarily not visible in the results. The module does not save this selection for later after reloading or closing the product page.

The summary shows the number of selected variants and the total number of units. It is not a summary of the order amount. The clear button removes the entire selection, including variants from other pages and outside the current filter; the final purchase value is shown in the PrestaShop cart.

The owner sets from 5 to 100 variants per page. The default value is 20. If there are more matching combinations, the module provides navigation between pages and information about the number of results.

Yes. Exact stock quantities are hidden by default, but the availability status remains visible. The owner can enable the number of units for variants with stock. Disabling this presentation does not disable stock control when adding to the cart.

Yes. The option to display only variants in stock leaves combinations with a positive stock level. It hides variants with zero or negative stock levels also when PrestaShop allows them to be ordered without stock.

Yes. In the Ordering tab, you can enable placing variants with a positive stock level before the others. This is an option independent of hiding out-of-stock variants.

Prices are calculated by PrestaShop’s native mechanism for the given combination and customer context. It takes into account the customer and group settings, currency, taxes, and applied pricing rules. The module does not create a separate price list or its own discounts.

The list shows the unit price calculated for the minimum purchase quantity of a given variant. It does not recalculate it in real time with each change to the quantity field. The final purchase value and quantity discounts for the items actually added are calculated by the native PrestaShop cart.

The way the price is displayed results from the PrestaShop tax settings for the customer context. The list indicates whether the displayed prices include tax. The module also uses the store's active currency and its formatting.

The module reads the minimum quantity for the combination and takes into account the units already in the cart. For example, with a minimum of 5 units and 5 units of this variant already in the cart, you can add another 1 unit if availability and the module limit allow it. An invalid quantity results in a message instead of being added.

Yes, if the native settings for ordering out of stock in PrestaShop allow it, and the variant meets the other purchase rules. However, with the option to display only in-stock variants enabled, such a combination is hidden and is not allowed in bulk purchase. The module does not determine the delivery date.

In the Ordering tab, you can set from 1 to 100,000 units; by default, the limit is 1000. The restriction applies to the quantity added for a given variant in a single action by the module, not to the total of all units in the cart. The purchase minimum and PrestaShop stock rules still apply.

The list can present and compare variants, but bulk purchase is disabled. The customer fills in the required fields and orders via the native product form. Simply saving the personalization earlier does not unlock bulk ordering for such a product.

Catalog mode, disabled price visibility, or the inability to order the product block bulk purchase. The list may still display available information about combinations. Prices are displayed only when allowed by the PrestaShop and product settings.

Yes. The owner can disable ordering multiple variants in the Ordering tab. The list remains available for browsing, searching, and comparing according to the enabled settings. The names and photos of the variants lead to the product page with the selected combination.

The configuration provides for a product tab, product footer, area below the purchase button, and a custom location in the template. The default position is the product tab. The actual placement of standard sections depends on how the relevant hooks are called in the theme in use.

Displaying the list in the selected standard position requires the appropriate hook in the theme. If the theme omits it, you can choose a custom location and embed the displayCustomAttributesListTable hook in the product template. The instructions in the module panel include the code needed for such embedding.

Yes. In the Ordering tab, category IDs separated by commas are entered. The product must be assigned to at least one of the indicated categories. Simply indicating a parent category does not automatically include all products from its subcategories; an empty field disables the category restriction.

Yes. The list title can be entered separately for the store languages, as plain text up to 120 characters. An empty field uses the default title translated by the module. Attribute names come from the PrestaShop catalog, using the default language when the value translation is missing or empty.

Settings are saved in the context of an individual shop. The list uses the combinations and configuration of that shop as well as PrestaShop’s native availability rules, including the shared stock status of the shop group. To prepare different settings, you should select the appropriate shops one by one in the panel.

Yes. The table and cards have a layout adapted to small screens. Variant data and order fields are presented in a form that makes it easier to browse individual combinations on a phone. The owner can additionally limit the scope of data, for example by disabling photos or product codes.

No. With JavaScript enabled, the module fetches and refreshes the list itself during filtering and when changing its page. The selected quantities are preserved in the process. After the confirmed addition of variants, it also refreshes the list data regarding current availability and the minimum next replenishment.

You should check the cart or repeat the same request according to the module message. Repeating it in the same session uses its preserved identifier and data; for 48 hours, a confirmed result protects against adding the same items again. This is not protection against a new, independent purchase after reloading the page.

Yes. An error during the actual cart update may result in a partial outcome, and an uncertain response requires checking the cart. A rejection during the earlier validation of the selected variants does not add any of those items. The module displays messages about the outcome and errors for the variants.

Bulk ordering, searching, and navigating between list pages require JavaScript. The list also contains links to variants and instructions for using the standard product form. Access to the list section with JavaScript disabled also depends on the theme structure.

The module is intended for PrestaShop 1.7, 8, and 9. The module code maintains syntax compatibility with PHP 7.0–8.5, but the PHP version for the store should be selected according to the requirements of the PrestaShop version in use. Displaying the list requires the appropriate hooks in the theme.

The module panel has the Display, Ordering, and Instructions tabs. By default, the list works in the product tab as a table with 20 variants per page, with search and bulk ordering enabled. The owner selects the position supported by the theme and sets the visible data, categories, and limits; when updating from version 2.x, the migration preserves the existing settings.

Uninstallation removes the module settings and its add request history. The contents of the native carts remain preserved. The module does not remove previously created products, combinations, or PrestaShop catalog attributes.
