# Product Flags Pro — labels on product images in PrestaShop

**Product Flags Pro** is a PrestaShop module for creating and displaying custom labels on product images. The administrator can assign a flag manually to selected products or enable it automatically based on one of the available catalog rules. The module adds labels to the native product flag pipeline used by the theme, so they can be visible on product listings and on the product page — depending on the flag settings and the flag area supported by the theme. For each flag, you can set the text in the store languages, colors, one of three shapes, priority, validity period, and display scope. Global settings allow you to limit the number of module flags per product and hide selected native theme labels. The module does not change the meta title, meta description, URLs, structured data, nor is it a tool for guaranteeing positions in Google results; its role is the clear presentation of product information.

## Description

## Module features and benefits

 - **Two assignment methods:** a flag can be selected manually for specific products or assigned automatically by a rule.
- **Clear communication on catalog pages:** labels use the native product flags area instead of creating a separate content block next to the product.
- **Control over order:** flag priority determines their order, and a global setting lets you limit the number of visible module flags for a single product.
- **Consistent appearance without editing theme files:** for each flag, you choose the background color, text color, and the rectangle, pill, or ribbon form.
- **Communication scheduling:** the “from” and “to” dates let you limit the flag’s activity to a selected period; the end date includes the entire indicated day.
- **Separate display scope:** each flag can be shown independently on product listings and on the product page.
- **Multilingual labels:** the flag text is a language field, so you can prepare separate wording for the languages available in the store.
- **Multistore support:** flags are assigned to stores, and the panel respects the current store context and the employee’s permissions to edit it.
- **Working with native markings:** you can hide selected flag types provided by the theme if they are to be replaced with your own configuration.
- **Preview during configuration:** the flag form includes a live label preview updated after changing the text, colors, and shape.

 ## Key functionalities

 - **Manual product marking:** products are selected in the flag form through a search by name, reference, or ID. The same manual flags can also be selected on the product page in the modules panel.
- **“New” rule:** the automatic flag uses the “new” information passed by PrestaShop to the product presentation.
- **Promotion and discount rule:** the flag can work for products marked as on sale or covered by a discount, with an optional minimum percentage threshold.
- **Stock status rules:** low stock flags with a custom quantity threshold and out-of-stock flags are available. Both rules remain inactive when stock management is disabled in PrestaShop.
- **Price range rule:** it covers the final gross price after discounts; thresholds are given in the store’s default currency, and the upper threshold may be left empty.
- **Category and manufacturer rules:** you can select categories, optionally including their subcategories, or indicate one or multiple manufacturers.
- **Dynamic flag text:** you can use the `{procent}` placeholder for the calculated discount percentage and `{stan}` for the product stock quantity in the label.
- **Management list:** the Back Office provides a preview of the appearance, activity status, expiry date, information about the assignment method, and priority changes.
- **Native types to hide:** settings include the following markings: new, discount, sale, pack, online only, and out of stock.

 ## SEO and GEO — actual scope

Product Flags Pro organizes messages visible next to the offer, for example about promotions, availability, or category membership. This may help users quickly recognize product features while browsing the catalog, but it does not add SEO descriptions, meta tags, canonical links, sitemaps, schema.org data, or data for generative systems. Therefore, the effect in the SEO or GEO area depends on the entire product page, the quality of catalog data, the theme, and the way the store is indexed, not on the flag itself.

 ## Compatibility

 - PrestaShop: **from 1.7.6 to 9.x**.
- The module uses the `actionProductFlagsModifier` hook, so it is not intended for older PrestaShop versions that do not provide this mechanism.
- The final position of the flag on the image results from the flags area rendered by the active PrestaShop theme.

## Questions and answers

### What is the Product Flags Pro module used for?

Language: en

Product Flags Pro is used to create custom labels visible in the native product flags area in the PrestaShop theme. The flag can indicate, for example, a promotion, a new product, low stock, a price range, a category, or a manufacturer — depending on the selected configuration.

### How do I manually assign a flag to specific products?

Language: en

In the flag form, select the “Manual product selection” mode, then add products using the search by name, reference, or ID. Manual flags can also be selected on the product page in the modules panel; saving the product page preserves the selected assignments.

### How do automatic flags work?

Language: en

The automatic flag does not require manual assignment to the product. After selecting the rule, the module checks the product data provided by PrestaShop and displays the flag when the product meets its conditions and falls within the set validity period.

### What automatic rules are available?

Language: en

The following rules are available: new, promotion or discount, low stock level, out of stock, price range, category, and manufacturer. For the discount, you can set a minimum percentage; for low stock, a quantity threshold; and for the category, you can also choose to include subcategories.

### Can the discount flag show the discount amount?

Language: en

Yes. In the label text, use the {procent} placeholder; the module will replace it with the rounded discount percentage calculated for the displayed product. The {stan} placeholder inserts the current product stock quantity.

### How do low stock and out-of-stock rules work?

Language: en

The low stock rule applies to quantities greater than zero and not exceeding the set threshold. The out-of-stock rule applies to quantities equal to zero or lower. Neither rule displays flags when PrestaShop stock management is disabled in the store.

### How does the price range rule work?

Language: en

The rule compares the product’s final gross price after discounts with the thresholds entered in the store’s default currency. You can set a lower and upper threshold; a value of 0 in the “Price to” field means there is no upper limit.

### Can I label products by category or manufacturer?

Language: en

Yes. The category rule allows you to indicate one or more categories and optionally also include their subcategories. The manufacturer rule allows you to select one or more manufacturers whose products are to receive the flag.

### How can I change the appearance of the flag?

Language: en

For each flag, you can set the background colour, text colour and shape: rectangle, pill or ribbon. The Back Office form shows a preview updated when the label, colours and shape are changed; the actual position of the flag on the website depends on the flag area in the active theme.

### Can I set where and in what order the flags appear?

Language: en

Yes. Each flag has separate visibility switches on product listings and on the product page, as well as a priority position. In the module settings, you can limit the number of visible module flags for a product; a value of 0 means no limit.

### Can the native flags provided by the theme be hidden?

Language: en

Yes. Global settings allow you to disable selected types of flags provided by PrestaShop: new, discount, sale, pack, online only, and out of stock. This option is useful when the native label is to be replaced with a flag configured in the module.

### Can I schedule the dates when the flag is active?

Language: en

Yes. The “Valid from” field specifies the start of the effect, and “Valid until” its end. An empty start or end field does not impose that particular restriction, while the flag with the end date remains visible until the end of that day.

### Does Product Flags Pro support multiple languages and multistore?

Language: en

Yes. The flag label is stored separately for the store languages, and the flag can be assigned to specific stores in multistore. The list and saving of flags respect the current store context and the employee's permissions for the assigned stores.

### Which versions of PrestaShop does Product Flags Pro work with?

Language: en

The module is intended for PrestaShop from version 1.7.6 to 9.x. It requires the actionProductFlagsModifier hook, which is used to modify the native set of product flags and is not available in older versions of the platform.

### Does Product Flags Pro directly improve SEO or GEO?

Language: en

No. The module does not create meta titles, meta descriptions, friendly URLs, schema.org structured data, a sitemap, or content intended for search engines or generative models. It can only make product communication clearer for users; the impact on SEO or GEO depends on the entire page, the theme, and the catalog data.
